The John McNicholas Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation was started in 2010 by Ed and Amy McNicholas after their 15-year-old son John lost his valiant fight with an inoperable brain tumor. Today, it is this Foundation’s mission to push for advancements in the care and treatment of pediatric brain tumor patients by facilitating better communication among physicians and patients, by improving the quality of life for pediatric brain tumor patients, and by funding cutting-edge research and treatment options to achieve our ultimate goal: the eradication of pediatric brain tumors.
On June 11, 2011, the Foundation, along with countless friends, hosted the first Live Like John Softball Tournament held at St. Rita High School. In that first year 24 teams participated, we raised $26,000 and had over 500 people in attendance. In 2012 we increased the field to 32 teams, raised $55,000 and had over 1000 people in attendance. In 2013 we raised over $80,000, in 2014 we raised $85,000 and in 2015 we raised over $90,000. We hope to raise over $100,000 in 2016!
While John’s story is tragic, sadly his story is not unique. Tomorrow 12 parents will get the news that their son or daughter has a brain tumor. Pediatric Brain Cancer is the deadliest form of Childhood Cancer. These children need our help in the fight against brain cancer. At this time, pediatric brain cancer research is grossly under funded and the public remains unaware of the magnitude of this disease.
It is our hope that you will help us make a difference. Please consider
